Tumbleweed Announces General Manager of the Year

LOUISVILLE, KY – March 7, 2008 – Eric Downs of Maysville, Kentucky was named the 2007 Tumbleweed Restaurants General Manager of the Year at an awards gala on March 8, 2008 in Louisville.

Tumbleweed recognizes top General Managers each year from units throughout Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio. One GM is selected annually as the General Manager of the Year and Downs, who runs Tumbleweed Maysville, won the 2007 honor at the historic Brown Hotel in downtown Louisville.

“This award means so much to me,” said Downs. “I want to thank (Kitchen Manager) Paul Rogers and (Key Hourly) Dennis Henry and everyone else affiliated with Tumbleweed Maysville. I owe this award to them. It’s really about an entire team, not just one person.”

Downs has won General Manager of the Period for his district 14 consecutive times and has scored more points than every other GM in Strategic Plan Results. His store increased sales by six percent versus the prior year. He has strategically placed hourly employees in key positions and has the lowest turnover rate at 75.8 percent in an industry with an average turnover rate of well over 150 percent.

In addition to his dedication, Downs is also involved with the company charity programs. He has worked with organizations such as St. Jude’s Hospital and Habitat for Humanity and donates his time to Mason County Schools, Odd Fellows, the Lion’s Club and the Wal-Mart Angel Tree.
