Tumbleweed Polar Bear Plunge raises $18,000 for Special Olympics.

Louisville, Ky. – Tumbleweed Restaurants raised over $18,000 for Special Olympics through its annual Polar Bear Plunge event, held last Saturday at Tumbleweed on the Waterfront in Louisville. In total over 1,000 participants including 35 Tumbleweed employees jumped into the icy waters of the Ohio to the cheers of lookers-on.

“I couldn’t believe the turnout,” said Matt Higgins, CEO of Tumbleweed Restaurants. “Even by the normal standards of the Polar Bear Plunge, this year was a giant success. We got cold, raised money for a great cause, and had a great time doing it. What more could you ask for?”

Donations collected in advance by the Polar Bear Plunge participants —combined with those collected from the crowd and proceeds from the sale of the Tumbleweed Polar Bear Plunge desserts — will go to fund Special Olympics activities across Kentucky and Ohio.
