Tumbleweed Boomtown

May 8th, 2009

This year, Thunder Over Louisville at Tumbleweed brought a whole new level of excitement to the Waterfront. We hosted the first ever Tumbleweed Boomtown event in the park surrounding the restaurant. It was a partnership with the Kentucky Derby Festival in which we were the NEW premier location to view the Air Show and the Fireworks.

We had it all! Beer & Margaritas on tap, burgers, hot dogs, queso, even fair food like Funnel Cakes and Corn Dogs.
Aside from the food there was so much to do. In our Kids Zone area, we had a mini golf course, slides and rides for the kids. Plus in the Brown Forman Amphitheater we had Lunar Beach playing. They are a Jimmy Buffet Cover band and the crowd loved them!

Not mention the AWESOME view of the Air show (Our restaurant is the turning point for the air show planes so when they turn you can really feel it. In fact, our whole building shakes when they come by!)

Last but not least, the amazing fireworks display. If you don’t know, Thunder Over Louisville is the largest Annual Fireworks display in the Nation and is the kick off Derby for the Greatest 2 Minutes in sports (AKA… the Kentucky Derby!) Tumbleweed on the Waterfront just happens to be located in a prime viewing spot for the event.

Phew! Our team has earned some rest until 2010 planning for Boomtown begins!

Menu Team Meeting April 28th

May 5th, 2009

The menu teams belly was full today. Head culinary chef Kent Nanni prepared many southwestern wraps and appetizers. The most interesting sample today was a spicy pineapple salsa. The team agreed this could be a great addition to the menu as a dip or even a great topping to fish, chicken or any fajita.

The overwhelming favorite item sampled today was a sirloin wrap. This was the last item the team sampled for the day and we wish it was our first as we all ATE almost every bite.

Kent really WOWed us today. Many of the items we tried today will be tested with some of our loyal guests in June and may be added to the menu as early as September 2009. Look for some of these favorites soon and we welcome any suggestions or comments about the items we tried today.

The team is currently seeking new items to be added to our kids menu like Fun juice or ice cream drinks and new margarita recipes to be added to our adult menu.

The team is excited about what Kent has to offer at the next sampling.
